Sources and reference register

The links below are references identified for this project. A reference is not a verified current price, local code determination, or endorsement.

Reviewed October 29, 2026: the two Lowe’s references below were checked for their published content and assumptions. This is a source review, not an installer’s sign-off or verification of a site-specific design. The remaining references are research candidates. No prices or market labor rates are prefilled.

Lowe’s: DIY Wood Privacy Fence PlansInstallation context; published guidance describes typical post spacing of 6–8 ft.Content checked October 29, 2026; page updated August 19, 2025. Its example uses shadowbox construction, which this calculator does not support. It provides context, not validation of our board counts or local-code compliance.
Lowe’s: fence material worksheet (PDF)Comparison of common picket, post and rail quantity rules.Content checked October 29, 2026; worksheet footer dated 2019. Its simplified layout and gate convention differ from our segment model. No reuse rights, installation approval or current prices were established.
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: state occupational employment and occupational structureContext for occupational wage data.Wages are not contractor billing rates and are not converted into a fence installation quote. Cataloged; no wage values used by default.
California BOE: Rural Building Costs 2026 (PDF)Potential comparison context for rural construction estimates.Scope and geography may not match a residential fence project. Cataloged; not used as a current retail or contractor price.
HomeGuide: Wood Fence CostSecondary cost context for research.Method, date, geography, and reuse rights require review before any figures could be cited. No figures are used here.

Price record requirements

Before a reference amount can be used, its record needs a defined component and dimensions, unit and currency, geography, observed and verified dates, expiry, source URL, collection method, license status, reviewer, and version. A price older than 90 days or lacking verification should not be used as a default.

Store catalog listings can change by SKU and location. Public availability alone does not establish permission for automated collection or republication. The project currently relies on prices entered by the user.
